Welcome to Bloom ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, and protection of personal information obtained from individuals ("users" or "you") who access and use the Bloom mobile application and affiliated platforms (collectively, the "Platform"). At Bloom, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains the types of data we collect, how we use, store, and protect that information, and your rights regarding your personal data. By accessing or using our Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
TYPES OF DATA WE COLLECT
To provide the best possible experience on our Platform, Bloom collects various types of information from and about users.
- Information You Provide Directly: When you voluntarily provide it to us, such as during account creation (Name, Email Address via Apple or Google sign-in), and profile updates (Profile Picture, Couple milestones/dates).
- Photos, Media, and Audio: With your explicit consent, we access your device's camera, photo library so you can capture and share memories with your partner.
- Information We Collect Automatically: Device Information (type of device, OS version), Usage Data (actions taken within the app, crash logs), and Language Preferences.
- Location Data (Optional): With your explicit consent, we may collect your precise location data to provide enhanced functionality (like tagging memories with a location to view on a map). Location sharing is not mandatory, and we only store the location data you attach to memories.
DEVICE PERMISSIONS
To provide specific features, Bloom requests access to the following device capabilities. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings.
- Camera: To capture photos and videos for shared memories, your profile picture, and doodle backgrounds.
- Photo Library: To select existing photos and videos from your device to add to your shared memory wall.
- Location (Optional): To tag memories with the place they were captured. Location is only collected when you explicitly attach it to a memory. We do not track your location in the background.
- Notifications: To alert you when your partner shares something new, sends a message, or interacts with your shared content. You can manage notification preferences in Settings.
HOW WE USE DATA
The information we collect is essential for providing, improving, and maintaining Bloom. Specifically, we use your data to:
- Create and manage your user account and securely link it with your partner.
- Enhance core app functionalities, such as syncing shared memories, messages, location tags, and media.
- Send service-related updates and important notifications (if enabled).
- Analyze usage patterns and app performance to fix bugs and identify opportunities for new features.
- Protect against unauthorized access and ensure the security of our services.
NO SALE OF DATA
We uphold the highest standards of data privacy. Bloom firmly asserts that we do not engage in the sale of any user's personal data to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. Your personal data is not treated as a commodity.
LAWFUL BASIS FOR COLLECTION
We collect and process your personal data in accordance with applicable privacy laws. Our lawful bases include:
- Consent: When you voluntarily provide information or enable permissions (e.g., location, camera).
- Contractual Necessity: To fulfill our obligations, such as creating your account and providing the app's core features.
- Legitimate Interests: To optimize the app, prevent fraud, and ensure system security.
- Legal Obligations: When we are required to retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process.
- Vital Interests: When processing is necessary to protect your safety or the safety of others.
AI-POWERED FEATURES
Bloom includes optional AI-powered features such as relationship chat (Pookie AI), personalized song generation, and relationship insights. To provide these features, we may transmit limited, de-identified context (specifically your Love Profile and Couple Names) to third-party AI providers:
- Google: Used for relationship insights and AI chat features. We use the paid API tier. Google does not use your data to train their AI models under this tier. Data is processed transiently and not retained by Google.
- Minimax: Used for personalized love song generation. Only anonymized mood and preference signals are shared — never your identity, photos, or message content.
We never share your email address, photos, or direct message content with AI providers. You can manage or disable the sharing of your Love Profile at any time in Settings → Privacy. Disabling AI features will stop all data transmission to AI providers.
AI-generated outputs (songs, chat responses, insights) are provided for entertainment and personal use only. They are not professional advice. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content.
HOW WE SHARE DATA
We respect your privacy and limit the sharing of your personal data. We share information only with trusted third-party service providers who assist in operating the Platform:
- Supabase: For secure database hosting and user authentication.
- Sentry: For crash reporting and performance monitoring (to identify bugs and crashes).
- RevenueCat: To manage subscriptions and payment status securely without accessing raw financial data.
- Apple and Google: For Sign-In (Authentication) and app distribution services.
- Google Gemini & Minimax: For AI-powered features only, using de-identified data as described above. Only applicable when AI features are enabled.
We may also disclose data to comply with legal obligations or during a business transfer (e.g., acquisition).
DATA SECURITY
Safeguarding your personal information is a top priority. Bloom’s infrastructure is built on industry-standard platforms, including secure database storage via Supabase and encryption for all data in transit. Access to production systems is strictly limited and protected by multi-factor authentication. We regularly monitor and update our security configurations to identify and address potential vulnerabilities. While no system can guarantee 100% security, we follow best practices to minimize risks. You also play a critical role by keeping your device secure and not sharing your login credentials.
DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account remains active. If you choose to delete your account through the app's settings, all your personal data (including shared memories) is permanently removed from our active database. Encrypted backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days for system recovery purposes; these backups are inaccessible during normal operations and are securely destroyed thereafter.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Our Platform is intended for use by adults in a relationship. Account creation and use are restricted to individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it immediately.
"AS IS" SERVICE
Bloom is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive to provide the best possible experience for couples, we make no warranties regarding the continuous availability, accuracy, or specific results of the service. You are responsible for maintaining backups of any photos or memories you consider irreplaceable.
USER RIGHTS
You have several rights concerning your data. We aim to respond to all valid requests within 30 days.
- Access & Rectification: You can view and update your profile information within the app at any time.
- Data Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Support → Account → Delete Account. This action is immediate and irreversible.
- Global Privacy Standards (GDPR & CCPA): We respect global privacy standards. If you are a resident of the European Union, UK, or California, you have the right to access, delete, and restrict the processing of your data. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

STORAGE & SECURITY INCIDENTS
While we work hard to keep your data safe, in the rare event that a security issue occurs, we promise to be transparent. If we ever discover that your personal information was part of a security incident, we will notify you quickly with clear details on what happened and steps you can take to protect your account. If you ever suspect unauthorized access to your account, please reach out to us at support@bloomcouples.app and we will help you secure it immediately.
GLOBAL DATA STORAGE
To provide a fast and reliable experience, Bloom uses trusted global partners like Supabase, RevenueCat, and Google to store and process data. This means your information may be stored on secure servers located outside of your home country. We only partner with providers that meet high security standards to ensure your data remains protected no matter where it is processed.
MODIFICATIONS TO THIS POLICY
We reserve the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements. Any updates will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Platform after changes signifies your acceptance of the updated terms.
